Despite the protests and controversy, Aamir Khan’s latest release P.K. is headed to become the highest grossing Hindi film of all time. At the end of its two weeks at theatres, it still trailed Dhoom 3 by a few crores.
Thursday being the New Year Day saw a huge spike in the collection of 'PK', starring Aamir Khan, Anushka Sharma, Sushant Singh Rajput and Sourabh Shukla. The film minted Rs. 14.05 crore to take its two-week tally to Rs. 278.78 crore net at Indian box office.
It is still a few crores behind ‘Dhoom 3’ which presently hogs the top slot as the highest grossing film with Rs. 284.27 crore lifetime business.
Trade experts feel ‘PK’ will cross this milestone on Friday or Saturday. So PK’s place as the highest grosser ever is guaranteed.
The interesting thing is that all the protests the film has witnessed from the saffron groups have had little or no effect on the collections. Rather, the footfalls have gone up because people are curious to find out if there is something really controversial in the film’s content.
‘PK’ has been declared tax-free in UP and Bihar. Expect it to enter the 300 crore club. It will be the first Hindi film to achieve that feat.
