Is this Aamir Khan's wrestler look from 'Dangal'?

Aamir Khan received a lot of appreciation for his last film PK. To an extent that the Rajkumar Hirani directorial went on to get the cash registers jingling and made more than Rs 300 crore at the box office.
So even after impressing the masses with his stellar act in PK, the perfectionist Khan has not time to relax for he is embarking on another adventure. This time, Aamir will be seen as a wrestler and a father of two girls, in his next Dangal. The actor is seen sporting a salt and pepper look for the film. He has cut his hair real short and is also sporting a beard. Given Khan’s perfectionist nature, he has certainly gone to great lengths to get the look right. Don’t you agree?
But that’s not it. Aamir has got some extra packs of abdomen muscles and build his biceps more. He has gone through extensive training by Hollywood fitness experts for this role. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Dangal is a biopic on wrestler Mahavir Phogat, the father of Indian women wrestlers Geeta and Babita Kumari Phogat.

Aamir Khan's open letter to PM Modi

Mr Perfectionst Aamir Khan has joined hands with several personalities across the globe for Action 2015.
Action 2015 is an initiatives taken to address issues of poverty, climate change and inequality. It is movement which aims at bringing the world on "track for ending poverty, tackling inequality and avoiding dangerous climate change" with the help of everyone.
Aamir Khan and Modi
The initiative was announced by 2014 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai. Aamir has joined the likes of Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Shakira, Bill Gates, Hugh Jackman, Jose Padilha, Bono and Ted Turner among others.
The letter was sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to encourage further action by India to address such critical issues as poverty, climate change and equality, as part of the action/2015 campaign.
Excerpts from the letter:
"There are moments in history that become turning points. In our view, 2015 will be such a moment. It is the most important year for global decision-making since the start of the new millennium. We believe it's just possible that we could end 2015 with a new global compact - an agreed pathway to a better, safer future for people and planet that will inspire all the citizens of the world. We can choose the path of sustainable development. Or we might not - and regret it for generations to come. Which side of history will you be on?
There are millions of voices you can't afford to ignore - the voices of the people you represent. They are voices of all ages from every corner of the planet - the voice of a young girl currently deprived an education... of a pregnant mother deprived healthcare... of young people deprived decent work... of a family from a minority group fearful of discrimination from corrupt officials... of farmers forced to migrate to cities as climate refugees... and of billions of other people. Their voices will roar ever louder against the inequality and injustice that keep people poor. They - and all who stand with them - are calling on you to come up with a grand new global contract for our one human family - and then deliver on it together. The great news is that in 2015 you have a historic chance to do just that.
Two critical United Nations summits will take place this year. The first in September, where the world must agree new goals to eradicate extreme poverty, tackle inequality and ensure a more sustainable planet. The second is the climate summit in December where we must ensure the wellbeing of people today doesn't come at the expense of our children's futures.
Together with critical discussions on financing, these opportunities are the biggest of our lifetime. We know from past efforts against AIDS, malaria, preventable diseases and saving the ozone layer that when we come together, so much can be achieved. Yet, with just months to go before these summits, few leaders are playing the leadership roles we need. We see climate progress but not yet of the scale that is needed, and a set of goals that are hugely ambitious but will be meaningless without brave financing and implementation agreements led from the very top.
If this does not change, we fear you and your fellow leaders could be sleep-walking the world towards one of the greatest failures of recent history. It's not too late to rise to the occasion. We're asking you to help lead that change.
Let's be clear: the actions we take in 2015 will decide which way the world turns for decades to come. Please take the right path."

Now, Aamir Khan’s ‘PK’ targeted in court, sued for Rs 1 cr

Days after the Delhi High Court rejected a petition against Aamir Khan starrer ‘PK’, a novelist has moved a plea accusing the movie’s producers and directors of plagiarising certain portions from his Hindi book ‘Farishta’ published in 2013.
Kapil Isapuri has moved the court alleging that Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Raj Kumar Hirani, who directed the film, their respective production companies as well as scriptwriter Abhijat Joshi have “stolen the characters, expression of ideas, scenes (sequences) from the novel”.
He has sought punitive damages of Rs one crore from the makers along with credit for his work.
In his plea filed through advocate Jyotika Kalra, Isapuri has claimed that in his novel he “has criticised blind following of so-called godmen” as well as that “profession of religion is not natural but is man-made and artificial” and “in a group of people nobody can identify their respective religion”.
He has also claimed that various other issues raised by the movie have been “copied” from his book.
After the ban row, yet another controversy has hit Aamir Khan's 'PK' movie, this time about its box office collections, which have created an all-time record in India. (PTI)

“That the novel has many more such situations which have been very cleverly copied by the defendants in the film by making minor changes and insignificant variations,” the petition has said.
“I am sorry that I watched ‘PK’ pretty late from its release on December 19. I watched the film on January 1 and was completely taken aback when I saw that many scenes in the film were inspired by my latest novel ‘Farishta’,” Isapuri told a press conference here.

Is Aamir Khan’s PK an adaptation of Kapil Isapuri’s novel Farishta?

OMG: Is Aamir Khan’s PK an adaptation of Kapil Isapuri’s novel Farishta?

Novelist Kapil Isapuri has approached the Delhi High Court, accusing the makers of Aamir Khan‘s film PK of plagiarism.
He said certain portions from his Hindi novel Farishta published in 2013 were “stolen and copied” and used in the film. Isapuri has sought punitive damages of Rs.1 crore from the filmmakers along with credit for his work. The Rajkumar Hirani directorial, which raises questions about religion and people’s blind faith in godmen, has been co-produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Hirani. The movie also stars Anushka Sharma and Sanjay Dutt.
The plea, filed through advocate Jyotika Kalra, alleged that the makers of the film as well as scriptwriter Abhijat Joshi stole the characters, expression of ideas and sequences from the novel Farishta. ”The novel has criticised blind following of so-called godmen and that profession of religion is not natural but is man-made and artificial and, in a group of people, nobody can identify their respective religion,” the plea said.
The court recently also dismissed a plea which sought a ban on the film for alleged derogatory remarks against Hindu gods, Hindu beliefs, faith and worship

After Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan supports Aamir Khan’s PK!

After Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan supports Aamir Khan’s PK!

Aamir Khan’s PK might have made a lot of amount of money at the box office, but at the same time the Rajkumar Hirani directorial has been surrounded by a lot of controversies. However, a lot of people including some B-town celebs have come out in support of the movie on the social networking websites.
A few days back it was Aamir‘s best buddy Salman Khan, who was signing praises for PK. And now it’s Shah Rukh Khan, who says that films which pass through Censor Board should not be questioned as it goes against the logic of censorship.
“I think films once censored shouldn’t be questioned. Films in India have to undergo a rigorous censor and once that’s done it’s officially passed. Yes, there will always be people who have issues but they shouldn’t take it into the system where the whole idea of censorship becomes banal,” said SRK at the launch of Dabboo Ratnani’s annual calendar.
Well, even with so many protests and controversies surrounding it, PK, which also stars Anushka Sharma, Sushant Singh Rajput and Boman Irani has managed to rake in over Rs 300 crore thereby becoming the highest grosser of all times

Delhi HC says nothing wrong in 'PK'

Delhi HC says nothing wrong in 'PK'

Delhi High Court has found nothing offensive in the content of Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani’s film 'PK'.

The Delhi High Court Wednesday dismissed a PIL filed against Rajkumar Hirani directed and Aamir Khan starrer film "P.K.", saying "the film was not offensive".

A division bench of Chief Justice G. Rohini and Justice R.S. Endlaw refused to entertain the plea which sought ban on the film for alleged derogatory remarks against Hindu gods, Hindu beliefs, faith and worship in the movie.

The bench said: "What was wrong in the movie? We don't find anything offensive in it. We don't find any substance in the plea."

The court said it will pass a detailed order on the plea later.

The PIL, filed by Gautam, argued that the film made mockery of Hindu god and Lord Shiva was shown in bad light.

"The Hindu way of worship has also been criticised in a most unwarranted manner," he alleged.

Additional Solicitor General Sanjay Jain appearing for the Centre opposed the plea, saying similar matter came before the Supreme Court which had rejected it.

Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer "PK" may have impressed critics and audiences but the portrayal of Hindu sentiments in the film has drawn the ire of right-wing organisations which say the movie disrespects Hindu religion.

Aamir Khan’s 'PK' becomes first Indian film in 300 crore club

Box office: Aamir Khan’s 'PK' becomes first Indian film in 300 crore club

A great milestone was crossed on Sunday. Aamir Khan’s latest blockbuster P.K. became the first Bollywood film to enter the 300 crore club.

The 300 crore club had eluded the Bollywood superstars so far. A year ago Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3 could reach only as far as Rs. 284.27 crore net at the Indian box office. Salman Khan’s Kick too gave up at Rs. 231.85 crore.

But Rajkumar Hirani’s latest release ‘PK’ seems unstoppable. On its 17th day at the box office, the film created history by becoming the first ever Indian film to enter the 300 crore club (net figures).

After 17 days, the ‘PK’ collection stands at a whopping Rs. 305.62 crore.

Moreover, the film is still in the running and trade pundits feel it might add another 30-40crore to its kitty as its lifetime business.

Interestingly, Aamir Khan was the first to enter the 100 crore club with Ghajini and also the first to enter the 200 crore club with 3 Idiots. Now’s he’s become the first one to breach the 300 crore mark.

A true superstar in every sense of the word.

Aamir Khan’s ‘PK’ box office collections beat ‘Dhoom 3′ record to become Bollywood’s No. 1

PK ban, PK protests, PK box office

As protests against the film continued, the producers of Aamir Khan-starrer ‘PK’ today said the film’s box office collections have broken Dhoom 3′ record to become the biggest grosser in Bollywood by collecting Rs 278.52 crore since its release on December 19.
Director Rajkumar Hirani, while breaking the news, said the film’s word-of-mouth performance has been overwhelming.
“I had never in my wildest dreams thought this film will cross these numbers. It reinforces faith that content is king. We can continue making films we believe in. The messages I get are overwhelming. People are watching the film over and over again. It’s humbling,” Rajkumar Hirani said in a statement.

The manner in which ‘PK’ movie has kept up its momentum in  building up box office collections burnishes the Aamir Khan aura further and gives greater credence to the trend of his movies packing great stamina for the long run – his movies may start a little slow, but as the days turn into weeks, they show no signs of slacking in pulling in the crowds into theatres.
‘PK’ with its Rs 278.52 crores at the box office is the second film by both Aamir Khan and Hirani after ‘3 Idiots’ (Rs 202 crore) to be a part of the Rs 200 crore club.
Aamir-starrer ‘Dhoom 3′ is second biggest earner with Rs 271.82 crores followed by Salman Khan starrer ‘Kick’ (Rs 231.85 crore) and Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Chennai Express’ (Rs 227.13 crore).

PK beats Chennai Express and Kick

Aamir Khan’s PK opened to a half-hearted response, cashing in about INR260 million on its opening day. While most Aamir critics thought his star power was overhauled by contemporaries Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan, PK’s bumper box office run has dodged everyone, reported dnaindia.com.
Amid a bunch of controversy, the movie has worked exceptionally well at the box-office, becoming the highest-grossing film of all time in the domestic market. According to IANS, the movie has collected INR2.63 billion in just 13 days, thus beating films like Dhoom 3 (INR2.61 billion), Kick (INR2.12 billion), Chennai Express (INR2.08 billion) and 3 Idiots (INR2.01 billion).
Looking at the movie’s pace at the box office, trade analysts are expecting the film to cross the INR3 billion mark in India. The film is going very strong at collection centres at worldwide box office and if it continues to run in this pace, it will earn INR3 billion by the fourth week, reported ibtimes.co.in
The film has also beaten the lifetime collections of Ajay Devgn starrer Singham Returns which made a lifetime collection of INR1.41 billion at the domestic box office, reported koimoi.com.
“I definitely think the numbers are as per expectations and we are looking at a movie which is going to surpass INR3 billion. So, I think its performance is at par at what the expectations were and I think it might succeed the expectations of fans and the film team alike. The movie is going to break all records,” commented Tarun Tandon, M D of Indra Films.
PK has been in the news bulletins lately, due to the film’s ‘controversial’ message that offended certain religious groups. Hindu religious groups in Agra continued their protest against the movie and activists of different Hindu sects held demonstrations in several places, burnt posters of the film and shouted slogans. Director Rajkumar Hirani clarified in a statement that PK wasn’t meant to insult any religious belief and was aimed at rekindling a sense of brotherhood, reported IANS.
With another hit under his belt, Aamir Khan truly rules the roost at the box-office.

Aamir Khan’s 'PK' set to become highest Bollywood grosser

Box office: Aamir Khan’s 'PK' set to become highest Bollywood grosser

Despite the protests and controversy, Aamir Khan’s latest release P.K. is headed to become the highest grossing Hindi film of all time. At the end of its two weeks at theatres, it still trailed Dhoom 3 by a few crores.

Thursday being the New Year Day saw a huge spike in the collection of 'PK', starring Aamir Khan, Anushka Sharma, Sushant Singh Rajput and Sourabh Shukla. The film minted Rs. 14.05 crore to take its two-week tally to Rs. 278.78 crore net at Indian box office.

It is still a few crores behind ‘Dhoom 3’ which presently hogs the top slot as the highest grossing film with Rs. 284.27 crore lifetime business.

Trade experts feel ‘PK’ will cross this milestone on Friday or Saturday. So PK’s place as the highest grosser ever is guaranteed.

The interesting thing is that all the protests the film has witnessed from the saffron groups have had little or no effect on the collections. Rather, the footfalls have gone up because people are curious to find out if there is something really controversial in the film’s content.

‘PK’ has been declared tax-free in UP and Bihar. Expect it to enter the 300 crore club. It will be the first Hindi film to achieve that feat.

All those opposing 'PK' are hypocrites: former Bihar CM Nitish Kumar

All those opposing 'PK' are hypocrites: former Bihar CM Nitish Kumar

Aamir Khan’s film 'PK' has found strong support from former Bihar CM Nitish Kumar.

Former Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar Wednesday gave "full 10 marks out of 10" to Aamir Khan's film "P.K.", saying it is not only entertaining but also creates awareness.

"Aamir Khan's 'PK' deserves full 10 marks because it is giving a positive message to the society," the Janata-Dal United leader told the media here.

Criticising those opposing and protesting "PK", Nitish Kumar said the film was already a hit across the country and was helping people gain knowledge.

Asked about the countrywide protest against 'PK' by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Bajrang Dal, he said: "All those opposing 'PK' are hypocrites."
